Klamath River Redux: Dam Removal Complete

Almost exactly a year ago, I wrote a blog titled Hoopetedoodle:  Klamath River & Basin, the Lost Coast, BoonvilleThe meandering "upsidedown" Klamath River and the impending removal of its dams had caught my imagination and curiosity.

Today, the Los Angeles Times, among other news outlets, reports the removal of the final of four dams on the Klamath River, the result of decades of efforts by tribes, farmers, fishermen, corporations, and politicians to restore the Klamath River and, along with it, the salmon population. The article is so full of uplifting ideas. Hope flows freely, it reads and,

change     culture    tradition    ancestral    restoration     evidence    essential    demonstration    reality    magic    persistence    standing on the shoulders    environment    natural    consent    native    amazing    contribute    access    healing     planting seeds      clear pools     rebuild

Change, hope, rebuild—they do the soul good.
