Giant Rock and the Integratron: March 2018

The Integratron

    En route home from Joshua Tree National Park, we stopped near Landers to see the Integratron and Giant Rock, two sights we had often talked about seeing. Touring the Integratron requires a reservation, but we were able to check it out from the road. 

The Integratron

    George Van Tassell built the Integratron for rejuvenation and time travel at what he described as an intersection of magnetic fields that his wood structure intensifies.

     Van Tassel also leased the nearby land on which 7-story-high Giant Rock stands. It has been a spiritual site for Native Americans for thousands of years. In the 1950s, Van Tassel built a dirt landing strip next to Giant Rock. At the site he sponsored meditation sessions and conventions promoting his UFO theories. It was here that he was influenced to build the Integratron by, among others, extraterrestrials.
